- Abstract
The article discusses the history of geographic regions in Italy and the cult of saints and martyrs in Puglia, Italy, with a focus on references to Saint Michael. Topics discussed include the sanctuary of Saint Michel on Mount Gargano in the Lombard region of Italy, including the history of the site during the Middle Ages, the cult of Saint Michael and the presence of physical markers of the cult along the Italian peninsula, and scholarly research conducted by Italian universities on the Sanctuary on Mount Gargano.
