The trial randomly assigned 276 adults with anxiety disorders to 8 weekly mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) classes or to the antidepressant escitalopram. The authors of the study noted that MBSR was delivered in person with trained teachers, so the results of the trial can't be extrapolated to mindfulness apps or to internet-based programs.
