- Title
Increased Problem of Anemia in the Era of Triple Combination Therapy.
- Authors
Kowdley, Kris V.
- Abstract
The article discusses the increased incidence of anemia in patients who received a triple combination therapy. A study revealed an approximately 20% increase in anemia rates in patients treated with a serine protease inhibitor (PI)-based therapy compared to those treated with triple therapy consisting of ribavirin (RBV). It also observed that erythropoietin (EPO) is not effective in managing anemia. The mechanism of anemia in patients receiving triple combination therapy is also discussed.
