- Abstract
The article explores the understanding of Mechthild of Magdeburg, a German mystic, on Trinity. It highlights Mechthild's relationship with Hildegard of Bingen, a twelfth century German Benedictine visionary, and Meister Eckhart, a fourteenth century German Dominican mystic. It traces the development of the doctrine of the Trinity to recognize the creativity and innovation of Mechthild. It discusses Mechthild's theology of the doctrine of the Trinity. It adds that the doctrine of the Trinity aimed at balancing the transcendence and the immanence of God.
